COXLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY

Our School Governing Body

Governors are a voluntary body of people who guide and support the strategic direction of the school. They are members of the school team and their contribution to the running of the school is highly valued.

The role of the governing body is a strategic one, its key functions are to:

  • Set the aims and objectives for the school
  • Set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
  • Set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
  • Be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend)

Coxley Interim Executive Board (IEB)

Why has an IEB been appointed?

An IEB is introduced when a school requires strengthened governance and additional support to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils. It is a legal mechanism used by the Local Authority when a governing board is unable to provide the level of stability, leadership and oversight that the school needs at that time.

What is an IEB?

An Interim Executive Board is a small group of experienced governors and education professionals appointed to take on all governing responsibilities for a temporary period. IEB members are carefully selected for their skills in:

• School improvement

• Governance and leadership

• Finance and resource oversight

• Supporting senior leadership teams

• Working collaboratively with school communities

IEB members commit to working transparently and closely with the school’s leadership team, staff and Local Authority to bring stability and ensure clear strategic direction.
