Year 6 SATS are formal, compulsory national curriculum tests taken by most pupils in England at the end of Year 6 to assess their progress in English and Mathematics before they move to Secondary School. The tests are officialled called Key Stage 2 (KS2) SATs and cover English reading, English grammar, punctuation, and spelling and mathematics. The results help measure school performance, provide a baseline for secondary schools, and ensure individual pupils receive the support they need. 

The Year 1 phonics screening test is a mandatory government assessment in England that checks if children can sound out words using their phonics skills. The test consists of two sections of 20 words each. The main skill being tested is blending sounds together to read a word, not just recognising words. The assessment typically takes around five minutes to complete.

Reception GLD refers to a Good Level of Development at the end of a child’s reception year, which is a measure used in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) profile in the UK. A child is defined as having reached this level if they have achieved the expected level in the areas of communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, physical development, literacy and mathematics.
